Meet Arielle of Four Rabbit: A Bold Creator Making Waves in Sustainable Fashion
Our partnership with multi-talented artist Arielle Toelke began in 2019 when she visited our facility in India. We were first introduced by the NYC Fair Trade Coalition.
Arielle, whose primary career is as a celebrity makeup artist, was nominated an Emmy in 2024 for her work. Beyond her career in makeup, Arielle is a versatile multimedia artist, exploring paper art, tarot, clothing design, and more. Her creative pursuits blend various forms of art. She even hosts workshops in NYC where attendees are invited into the creative process of dyeing textiles. She sells online, wholesale to boutiques and at renegade markets across the country.
As the creator and designer behind Four Rabbit, Arielle's work often merges geometric and architectural elements, resulting in unique pieces that stand out. In our collaboration, Arielle’s interest in travel, biking and board games shines through in her bandanas, which feature artwork that doubles as a board game. This means that while you're out hiking, biking, or on vacation, you can easily unfold the bandana to enjoy an instant, portable game, combining style with fun and functionality.

How it Started
The first project we worked on together was a small batch of organic cotton long-sleeve shirts. Arielle took these shirts back to New York, where she dyed and printed them herself during her workshops.
As our collaboration grew, we started producing custom bandanas and scarves for Four Rabbit. What's special about Work+Shelter, is we offer to do custom sizing. Arielle took full advantage of this, designing both standard bandana sizes and larger 44×44-inch scarves. Interestingly, the 44×44 size aligns perfectly with the width of our fabric rolls, making these scarves zero-waste.

Latest Collaboration: Reflective Bike Bandanas
These bandanas perfectly marries style and utility and are:
- Made from organic cotton for sustainability.
- Features a hi-viz reflective panel for keeping cyclists visible and safe during their rides.
- Includes printed instructions on how to patch a bike tire, adding an extra layer of functionality to the product.

Additionally, at Work+Shelter, we offer custom belly band packaging, which allows our clients to send in their artwork or branding for us to print on the band. This gives clients the creative space to showcase their brand, mission, or any additional product information they want to highlight.
For the reflective bike bandanas, we created a custom belly band that not only complemented the product but also conveyed key details, like wash care instructions and the purpose behind the design.
Amy Sedaris' Instagram Post
This reflective fabric caught the attention of celebrity Amy Sedaris, who gave Four Rabbit a shoutout on Instagram as one of the top picks for holiday gift ideas. It’s exciting to see Arielle’s work recognized in such a high-profile way!
