Behind the Scenes: Crafting Nemat Perfumes' New Layering Kits for Ulta

We're proud to be the production partner Nemat Perfumes — a brand carrying over 170 years of family heritage in Indian artisanal perfumery and fragrance oils — chose for their beautiful new Perfume Layering Kits, which are now live at 1,500 Ulta Beauty stores nationwide and on Ulta.com. This is exactly the kind of partnership we love: professional, large-scale, and built on a mutual interest in ethical, high-quality production. To show you how we achieve this level of quality and consistency at scale, we want to take you behind the curtain to see how our teams worked together in Delhi to get every detail just right.

We believe that trust is built through seeing, not just telling. This is our standard, and it's why we openly publish our Delhi address and encourage all clients to visit. When the Nemat marketing team came for a visit, we saw it as a powerful opportunity to collaborate and for our client to experience our operation firsthand.

The Nemat team met the women who make every piece and joined us on the production floor. Together, we even visited our GOTS-approved digital printing partner to review the fabric preparation, where they saw their vibrant designs freshly printed on 100% organic cotton canvas.

A high-quality product is the result of collaboration. We work closely with clients to ensure the final product meets their quality standards as well as aligning with their brand and market goals. Some examples from our work with Nemat are:

  • We pivoted the initial dark blue for the Amber pouch to a softer rose to achieve a gentler, more feminine aesthetic that matched their vision perfectly.
  • The minaret shape is fundamental to Nemat's identity. We translated that architectural curve into a soft canvas pouch by standardizing the build into 13 repeatable internal steps. This ensured every one of the thousands of pouches were identical.
  • Working together, the Nemat team ultimately decided on the 12oz Organic Cotton Canvas. This weight provided the perfect balance of "stand-up" structure for retail shelves and the high level of sustainability the project required.

We leveraged our production experience to advise on key adjustments that ensured the final kits were as durable as they were beautiful.

  • During the sampling phase, we made a strategic pivot. We shifted from a simple elastic band closure to a button and elastic loop closure on the bag. This ensured a much more secure "lock" for the glass bottles inside.
  • The interior elastic band was ultimately stitched slightly tighter than the original request. This created a "safe zone" that holds each delicate glass bottle snugly and safely through repeated use.
  • We carefully adjusted the pouch height to be slightly higher than the bottles. This subtle shift eliminated any lopsidedness and ensured a neat, symmetrical fold with the looped coconut button closure.
  • And we even collaborated on the packing process, making the decision to ship the pouches open. When you're dealing with 200,000 units, shipping them unbuttoned saves the fulfillment team in California hundreds of hours of labor, getting the kits to market with much higher efficiency.

Seeing our work with Nemat Perfumes on the shelves of Ulta Beauty is a powerful moment that reflects our quality. This successful national launch confirms our belief: professional, high-volume production should always be ethical.

Every time you purchase one of these layering kits, you're directly supporting the dignified work of the talented women in Delhi who skillfully brought that pouch to life. This partnership proves that the dedication to honest production and technical quality belongs on the national stage.
